Nerdversity Discussion: Rick Medina's Arrest

For those that don't know, Rick Medina was best known for being Cole, the Red Wild Force Ranger and then Deker, the villain in Power Rangers Samurai. Back in February 2015, Rick Medina was arrested at his home for allegedly murdering his room mate. Medina called the police himself and turned himself in to the Deputies that arrived. He was held on a $1 million bond. According to the reports:

The incident took place around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, at a residence in the 38000 block of San Francisquito Canyon Road, an isolated section of the Los Angeles-area mountains, about 45 miles north of the Civic Center.
Medina, 36, entered his bedroom with his girlfriend and closed the door, according to deputies, and when Sutter forced his way into the room, Medina stabbed him once in the abdomen with a sword that he kept behind the bedroom door.

He was released after the Detectives in the case stated there was insufficient evidence for a murder case and that according to Medina's testimony, that it was Justifiable Self Defense and the case was closed pending further investigation.

Fastforward to July 2015. when Rachel Kenndey, the sister of Josh Sutter saw the autopsy report and then spoke to Inquistr magazine, in which she claimed that Sutter had cuts all over his hands and that it was clearly murder. She also said that she would get Justice for her Brother and would see Medina behind bars.

So we come to this week, were on the 14th January 2014, when the Los Angeles DA's office announced that Medina had been arrested and charged with the murder of Joshua Sutter. They believe they have enough evidence charge Medina with murder and IF successfully convicted, he's looking at 28 years behind bars. Medina is due to be arraigned in court on Tuesday. Bail will be set at $1 million.
