Nerdversity Reviews: Star Wars Mission Series Death Star Han Solo

Released in 2013 by Hasbro, this is set MS07, part of the Mission Series line of figure twin packs. In this set, we have Han and Chewie from the Death Star scenes in A New Hope. The front of the box has a clear open window, showing the new look Han and Chewie. These are 5 points of articulation, not multi jointed. The box top has a large graphic of Darth Vader reaching towards the viewer. Down the sides of the box, we have images of Han and Chewie from the movies.

The back of the card has a large graphic of Han and Chewie from a scene in Mos Eisley, not the Death Star. The text underneath reads:

Han Solo and Chewbacca are swept up in the Rebel Alliance's struggle to free the galaxy from the evil Galactic Empire. These two unlikely heroes help rescue a princess and deliver plans to the Rebels that help them destroy the Empire's Death Star.

The rest of the card has other sets in that wave from all movies and some copyright information as well.

Taking the figure out of the box, we can see Han is dressed in the same outfit he became famous for in the movies. The likeness is off completely and doesn't look anything like Harrison Ford at all. He has 5 points of articulation, in his neck, shoulders and hips. The holster on his thigh isn't usable and is empty. The left wrist is angled downwards slightly

His accessory is a Blastech DL-44 Blaster in all black that slips into his left hand. There is a lot of detailing in the blaster. The flash hider has holes in it, the attachment has lines going down it. There's even wood panel markings on the hand grip.

The figure itself is pretty reasonable. It feels good in the hand, solidly built, but the fact it's only 5 points really detracts, sure many fans would say it's supposed to rekindle the vintage Kenner style, but when we've become accustomed to quality figures with decent articulation then people will pass on this, aside from hardcore collectors. As always, your mileage may vary
