Nerdversity Reviews: Thundercats 2011 4 Inch Thunder Racer (Tygra)

As the first year of toys were released and gaining popularity with fans and children alike, they released more and tried to make them as close to the cartoon as possible.

To follow on from the release of the Thunder Racer with Lion-O set, Bandai released the Thunder Racer with Tygra. It comes in the same window box as the others. It features the redesigned THUNDERCATS logo in the upper left and the features around the edges. The figure and racer in the middle of the card.

The back of the box has the racer and it's features, as well as showing how it connects to the Thunder Tank, The rest of the box back is dedicated to showing the Thunder Tank figures and other vehicles in the line.

The Tron influence is strong here, with the Thunder Racer looking very much like a Light Cycle. It's primarily in a metallic blue colour The cockpit opens to seat a 4 inch basic figure inside. By connecting the Thunder Lynx port on the seat, it makes the LED in the weapon light up to simulate a laser.

The pack in figure is a new Tygra figure. Articulate in the neck, shoulders, wrists, hips and knees. He comes dressed in the same black vest and shorts, which don't appear in the show at all. He comes with no accessories at all, though some might say he is the accessory.

The figure might end up in the fodder bin for some people and replaced with the basic collection Tygra. Like the other racer, it fits most of the 4 inch basic figures and looks great attached to the side of the Thundertank,They can be fired by pushing the black buttons on the back of the tank. Adding one to your collection will cost you around £20.
