Nerdversity Reviews: Star Wars Kinder Egg (Star Destroyer)

There is simply no denying the marketing power that Star Wars has. It earns over 30 billion dollars per year.

Kinder Surprise, a German chocolate, has been doing a promotion with Lucasfilm and Disney to put Star Wars themed toys inside their chocolate eggs. The eggs themselves are milk chocolate. The foil wrapping is Star Wars themed and has a Stormtrooper and Yoda on it.

Inside the egg, we have these orange plastic capsules. They house the toy inside. To open then, simply squeeze the upper section and the top pops open.

Before we get to the toy, we have a double sided instruction sheet. One side has the instructions on how to put the toy together, the other side has an advert for all the other toys in the collection. There's even a QR code. I don't know if it works.

So here's the toy in question. Here we have a two piece Star Destroyer that snaps together and has a large Stormtrooper head on the top. It is a dangler, hence the piece of string that comes out of the top of the Stormtrooper's head.

A single Kinder Egg in this line costs around 80p and there's 10 items to collect, covering all eras in the Star Wars timeline. It's largely well detailed for a small prize in an egg. I've definitely seen worse and does have some play value for Children. Many collectors might want to skip over this, due to it's odd design and large heads.
