Nerdversity Reviews: Birmingham ICE

The Birmingham International Comics Expo (ICE), is the brainchild of Shane Chebsey. It's been a yearly event for a long while now. However, the event was almost cancelled, after the UK Arts Council decided to pull it's funding for the event. Thankfully, CBCS, a comic book grading company had heard about what had happened and pumped much needed funding into the event by way of sponsorship.

ICE is not your typical comic book convention. This is more a personalised experience where instead of raiding longboxes for 1970s Spider-Man comics, people can get to meet famous writers and artists, as well as independent people in the business. It's a great way for people to not only meet famous and upcoming people, but also for people who want to get into the comic industry. There are numerous workshops on writing and art.

CBCS also held a charity auction for Beanstalk, a charity in the UK that helps children with literacy and writing.
