Nerdversity Reviews: Jackal

Vehicle based combat games were a unique style of game, especially in the 1980s. They are more popular now, but have their origins back in the 1980s.

Jackal was released by Konami in 1988. That silver box, that started with the likes of Contra and Castlevania was a visual indicator of who made it and that level of quality that players came to expect.

Jackal had players driving around maps in a jeep, blasting enemies and occasionally rescuing POWs, that would give the player upgrades from bullets to rocket launchers to destroy the myriad of tanks, jets, boats and more. The game could also be played 2 player.
