Nerdversity Reviews: Spider-Man Year-By-Year: A Visual Chronicle

In 1963, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created one of the most iconic Marvel characters to ever grace a comic page and a character that would change the face of comic books for decades to come. Call him Amazing, Sensational or even Spectacular, he's everyone's friendly neighbourhood wall-crawler - Spider-Man.

The Spider-Man Chronicle was first released in 2013 and written by Alan Cowsill and Matthew K. Manning. It was published to coincide with Spider-Man's 50th anniversary at Marvel Comics. Much larger than the regular Ultimate Guides, this is about the size of a laptop and weighs about the same too.

Chronicle is a year by year look at Spider-Man, starting with his humble beginnings in 1962 and leading to the penultimate year of 2013. It covers everything fans needed to know, such as key events in the world and at Marvel. Key events, storylines and issues within the world of Spider-Man and so much more besides.

From beginning to end, Chronicle never feels like a chore or even an encyclopedia, even though it is. It feels more like a nostalgic trip down memory lane, letting fans new and old experience the web-head and his history. Any spider-fan would want this book in their collection and you never know, they might break out their long box and relive some of those memories as seen in the book.
